A word from
our President...
2009 saw Netball America pass some major milestones, with partnership development, strategic planning, youth initiatives being implemented, some fantastic membership growth and participation in conjunction with the first ever regional tournament being held.
A huge goal was scored with the forming of strategic partnerships with the NBA and WNBA. This is an extremely valuable relationship and one which has the potential to allow the organization to leverage brand awareness, integrity and gain valuable media coverage. Netball America showcased the sport in front of a live crowd of well over 14,000 Americans at the Los Angeles Staples Center. Star-studded commentators of the event included Ian Thorpe (5-time Olympic Gold Medalist), Stacey Francis (England Netball Team) and Greg Collins (True Blood), with Nigel Lythgoe (American Idol Producer and Judge of So You Think You Can Dance) cheering from the sidelines.
Netball America is a charitable organization and the community outreach to 30 teachers and students from the Martin Luther King Jr Elementary School provided a great platform from which to integrate the sport into local communities.
Media exposure within both the US and internationally was complimented with Netball advertisements being shown on cinema screens in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe.
Membership increased 150% across 17 US States and various Canadian cities.
Our Netball Enrichment Initiative launched and has led to the National PE Teachers Association wanting to work with Netball America.
As we look into 2010 we intend to build upon the relationships with both our members and our corporate and community alliances. Netball remains the unknown sport in America and we still have a long way to reach our goals. The team at Netball America remains committed to seeing the sport thrive within our member states until we have conquered them all!
 President, Netball America
