USA Netball Championships
On Saturday November 5, 2011, Netball America and Nashville Kangaroos hosted 19 teams from a record number of 7 States (California, Georgia, Illinois, Tennessee, New York, Texas & Washington), at the USA Netball Championships at A-Game facility, Tennessee. The tournament consisted of Ladies, Men’s, Mixed and U/18′s who competed for the National Championship in their category. Click here for the official event program (large PDF, please be patient). Congratulations to the following:
- Crusaders from NY for taking home the American National Championship Title.
- Georgia Elite – Mixed National Champions.
- Houston Shooting Stars – U/18 National Champions.
- Nashville Kangaroos – National Mens Champions.
- Crusaders Atlanta as the winners of the Netball America Cup (highest performing member team).
MVPs were awarded to the following:
- Ladies – Kirsty Deathe (Chicago Black)
- Mixed – Al MacGlashen (Chicago Mixed)
- U/18 – Marritt Meerdink (Houston Shooting Stars)
- Mens – Clint Milner (Nashville Kangaroos)
Also, the Netball America East Coast Jaguars took home the USA representative team trophy.
A big thank you to event performers: Jane Leinecker; Season 7 American Idol Finalist Michael Johns along with Stephen Rowe & Band, featuring tAtu guitarist Troy MacCubbin, Dutch Suoninen, and Jeff “Shakey” Fowlkes.
World University Netball Championships
For the first time in the history of the World University Championships, Netball, a “recognized” Olympic sport played by over 20 million people in more than 70 countries is being included as an official sport in the upcoming World University Championships in Cape Town, South Africa July 2012. Netball America was recently awarded the honor of sending a USA Netball team to this prestigious university event.
This is an amazing opportunity for your university to have students participating at a world level representing Team USA. With coaching and support from former USA Netball Athletes and top Netball America coaches, we feel as though we can make a significant impact in this first year of competition. Air New Zealand Golden Oldies World Netball Festival 2013
Netball America warmly welcomes you all to the Air New Zealand Golden Oldies World Netball Festival to be held in the mainland United States for the first time. You and your team will have the unique opportunity to enjoy American culture, meet new people, make lifelong friends and experience the beautiful and famous location of San Diego, California!!
This internationally recognized Festival will help increase awareness of Netball in America, encourage Americans to play our beloved sport while being able to give our local Netball players the opportunity to participate in the Fun, Friendship and Fraternity of which is the Golden Oldies Netball Festival.
It is a great honor to be the national governing body for this event, we are very excited to be working with Air New Zealand and the San Diego Sports Commission to provide you with this once in a lifetime experience.
Recognition by the Women’s Sports Foundation
Netball America’s youth education program was recently recognized at Seattle Storm by the Women’s Sports Foundation GoGirlGo! Seattle. Netball America in conjunction with Emerald City Netball Club was awarded a $5,000 grant to roll out the program to underserved youth in Seattle. Applications to participate in this 2012 program will open soon. You can view the video about the program here.
The WNBA Atlanta Dream game in September 2011 saw Netball America take center court in front of 6,000 WNBA fans to receive a $1,000 award as a finalist in the GoGirlGo Atlanta!
